Pearl Street Station was Edison's main lab after he closed Menlo Park. Menlo park was his main lab in New Jersey, but he closed it when production of the light bulb was not fast enough. He then opened several new stations in New York, and Pearl Street became his new base. It was a good location because it was near the financial district in Manhattan and he could gain wealthy businesses as clients along with wealthy people's homes. It was a good place because of the wealthy client base. Pearl Street station modeled what electric power stations look like today.
